At Controllership Focus Online (CFO for short) we created “The Accounting Firm of the Future” combining the best traditions of the past (exceptional service with honesty and integrity) with the exciting technology and software of the 21st Century (online anytime, anywhere access to your records and your CFO and IT team).

We have been providing accounting services to the business community since 1991 as J.A. Smith & Associates Inc., CGA, CFP. In 2000, J.A. Smith & Associates became the eighth accounting firm in Canada designated as ISO Certified. We introduced our outsourced accounting and controllership programs in 2002 and now provide core accounting services, Controllership service, business process management consulting, and regular consistent business advice to all of our Controllership clients.

On September 1, 2009 we were pleased to announce a merger between the Outsourced Accounting Services of J A Smith & Associates Inc. and CPO Accounting Inc. Both firms were pioneers in the online CFO industry in Canada providing remote CFO services to their clients. By joining forces under our new Controllership Focus Online service we bring together proven processes and technology and best practices of both firms. Our professional accountants provide business advice and financial reviews on a regular basis allowing owners to keep up-to-date on the financial health of their business.

Our affiliated sister company, Business Performance Solutions Inc .(http://www.bps-i.ca/), a Microsoft Small Business Specialist, provides our clients access to dedicated high-speed servers, software applications, remote backup and the support of a very capable team of IT professionals. Our investment in technology (dedicated servers, high-speed scanners, document transfer software and more) plus our proprietary financial reports including Trend Analysis, Cash-Flow, Break Even Analysis and Performance Measures allow our business clients to concentrate on what they do well –their core business and know they have the security of a solid capable CFO team tracking, measuring and aliening where necessary to achieve their business success.
